The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Applied AI Engineer who will build a groundbreaking rules engine using automated reasoning for explainable AI systems in high-trust environments. You will build an AI platform at a speed that others would call impossible. You will innovate where others fail because you have mastered foundational technologies and can see through the abstractions. You will master model distillation and build an SML factory that will be the envy of the AI world.

What You’ll Do

• Partner with product leaders and subject matter experts to shape AI-driven products that reimagine entire industries.
• Define architecture and technical standards for AI/ML systems across multiple ventures.
• Build and deploy explainable AI systems using state machines and automated reasoning.
• Define the standards of excellence for well-tested production-grade data pipelines with observability and monitoring.
• Build elite-performing teams with data-driven approaches, such as DORA metrics. Invest in and cultivate human capital through one-on-one meetings, lunch-and-learns, and conference talks. Define what excellence means at VectorOne.
• Evaluate and integrate emerging AI/ML and data engineering tools to keep VectorOne on the cutting edge.
• Ensure that all engineering efforts align with the high-priority business goals. We are an outcomes-focused company.

What We’re Looking For

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with at least one year of experience as a senior software engineer. At least one year of applied AI experience with a focus on applying LLMs in production systems. You must have a track record of success.
• Experience with Symbolic AI (neurosymbolic programming) is a huge plus.
• Deep expertise in Python and modern ML/AI frameworks.
• A deep understanding of the foundational technologies in applied AI. You must be able to see through abstractions like LangChain. You will be expected to build novel solutions from the foundation layer.
• Experience leading teams and mentoring engineers while staying hands-on.
• A strong background in Palantir Foundry is a huge plus.
• Comfortable using a Founder mindset to shape strategy in ambiguous environments while driving execution.
