Our Founder: Ashla was founded by a serial entrepreneur who successfully built a half-billion-dollar financial services firm from scratch. Ashla is excited to hire fanatical, fantastic humans with great minds, who, together, will create a lasting legacy.
Role Overview
The Director of IT & Data Systems will sit at the intersection of infrastructure, innovation, and intelligence — overseeing Ashla’s IT operations while leading our evolution into a more data-driven, AI-enabled organization. This person will not only secure and manage our systems but also shape how technology drives creativity, efficiency, and insight across Ashla and its portfolio.
They’ll balance hands-on IT management with high-level strategic thinking — someone equally comfortable configuring devices and architecting how data flows through the entire ecosystem. This role is ideal for a technical thinker who wants to build, not just maintain — a leader who brings curiosity, rigor, and imagination to how technology can move a business forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement Ashla’s long-term technology roadmap — integrating emerging tools in AI, automation, and data infrastructure.
- Partner with portfolio company tech leads to identify opportunities for shared data pipelines, unified identity systems, and analytics that inform business and investment decisions.
- Build lightweight internal tools, dashboards, and automations that improve team productivity and data visibility.
- Act as Ashla’s internal thought leader for technology — evaluating new platforms, managing experimentation, and helping teams “see around corners.”
- Bridge creative and technical thinking: translate business problems into data or automation opportunities and prototype early solutions.
- Ashla Internal IT (Direct Ownership): Manage and secure all IT systems, networks, and user environments.. Oversee IT vendor selection, contracting, and performance management. Ensure seamless operations for investment reporting, communications, and core family office functions.
- Governance: Define enterprise-wide IT standards, frameworks, and policies. Align subsidiaries with Ashla’s security and compliance requirements while respecting their operational autonomy.
- Cybersecurity & Compliance: Implement robust security controls to protect Ashla’s internal data and systems. Oversee compliance across subsidiaries with regulatory and data protection requirements. Coordinate incident response readiness at both Ashla and subsidiary levels. Stand up and facilitate Ashla and subsidiaries SOC 2 readiness and certification efforts, including defining scope, establishing required controls, managing external auditors, and ensuring ongoing control effectiveness across all relevant systems and vendors.
- Collaboration & Oversight: Act as an advisor and accountability partner for subsidiary IT leaders. Facilitate knowledge-sharing, best practices, and consistency across entities. Maintain Ashla’s reputation as a secure, compliant, and resilient parent company.
- Device Management: Oversee setup and procurement of all software and hardware for all Ashla employees.
Value to Ashla
- Builder Mindset: Turns Ashla’s tech and data vision into real systems and prototypes — not just policies.
- Strategic Partner: Connects the dots across business, data, and infrastructure to give leadership better visibility and leverage.
- Innovation Engine: Constantly tests and integrates new technologies to keep Ashla ahead of the curve.
- Secure Core: Protects Ashla’s systems while unlocking smarter, faster ways to work.
Skills & Qualifications
- 7–10 years of experience in IT, systems architecture, or data-oriented technology leadership.
- Strong foundation in information security, cloud infrastructure (Google Workspace, AWS, Azure, or equivalent), and modern data stacks (SQL, Python, APIs, etc.).
- Experience building or integrating lightweight automations, internal tools, or analytics dashboards (Airtable, Notion, Zapier, Retool, or custom).
- Proven ability to evaluate and implement emerging technologies — especially AI, automation, and data-driven decision tools.
- Comfort operating at both strategic and hands-on levels — capable of leading system architecture discussions and fixing a VPN issue.
- Curiosity and creative problem-solving mindset — someone who asks, “Could this be done smarter?” and then builds it.
- Excellent communication skills with non-technical leaders — translating complex technical issues into simple business decisions.
- Optional but strong plus: familiarity with LLMs, API integrations, or data-governance tools.
